BIO

Dani Zanoni is an indie/pop singer songwriter from Northern New Jersey.

Growing up Dani has always had a passion for singing, although it wasn’t until junior high that she realized why. Being diagnosed with Clinical Anxiety at a young age made everyday a challenge, but she would always find comfort in singing and writing lyrics in regards to how she was feeling and the things she was going through. She took voice lessons, joined a bunch of choirs for fun, and even joined school musicals. But, her first solo debut was in her middle school’s version of American Idol. “I was so terrified because I had NEVER sang solo in front of any kind of crowd before, but boy was it worth it.” Dani ended up winning 2nd place in that competition and says she had never felt more at home than when she was up there on that stage. “Since that day, nothing has brought me more comfort or happiness than when I am performing. Music is literally therapy for me.” She then continued studying voice with vocal coach, Zuke Smith and then on with Professor, Lisa Lutter in college.

In 2014, Dani was gifted her first guitar and has been writing complete songs ever since. By 2017, Dani went to NYC to record 5 original songs with Grammy winning music producer Tony Black (Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, etc). She has been performing those originals and many cover tunes with her partner-in-crime, Alex Kerssen (musician) throughout New York and New Jersey. Dani is in the process of writing more and plans for new original releases within the next year or two.

Dani is a recent graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey where she double concentrated in Music Industry and Performance. While at Ramapo, she had the incredible opportunity of interning at Fearless Records in NYC in the Digital Marketing Department, had her song, “Got Me”, added to Vol. 2 of Ramix Recordings (the school’s record label), and even had the honor of singing the National Anthem for her commencement ceremony at The Prudential Center - just a few major highlights of her career thus far. Dani plans to continue her passion of Digital Marketing alongside performing and writing her original music.

As a writer, Dani wants to be able to share with the world her and other’s stories through her music. While still being catchy, she wants her music to evoke emotion for those listening. Dani writes her music to be relatable and meaningful. “My songs represent those inner feelings that are not always the easiest to express.” By using optimism and empowerment in her writing, she hopes to touch and inspire the lives of people through her music, just as it does for her.

Aka: Dani and Alex

Dani Zanoni and Alex Kerssen

It all started back when Dani and Alex met in high school, when Dani was a junior and Alex was a freshman. The choir director was putting on the annual “Cabaret Night” and Dani needed a bassist for the song she was planning to perform and Alex was recommended. They have been playing together ever since, and now have close to 100 cover songs in rep from all their gigs. Their rep ranges from Dani’s originals, to pop, rock, country and everything in-between.

Alex is an incredible musician. His main instrument is piano (Jazz in particular, studying at William Patterson University), but he also plays guitar, saxophone, bagpipes and clarinet. He always plays focused and with emotion, and really captivates the audience with his abilities. Alex’s musical skills always tie in his Jazz roots which give an extra element of originality to the music they play.

Having Alex along adds another level of fun and excitement to the sets, especially when they play together on Dani’s originals. After playing together for almost 6 years now, they have developed the best band member chemistry. Dani and Alex have such a great time performing together, and it shows!

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see these two in action! See the ‘SHOWS’ tab above to see what gigs are coming up next for them!
